Dr Linny Kimly Phuong
Chair and Co-Founder of The Water Well Project
Dr Linny Kimly Phuong is a General Paediatrics & Infectious Diseases Fellow at Monash Children’s Hospital. She is completing a Masters of Public Health at Melbourne University and, before Medicine, was a practicing Pharmacist. Her interest in refugee health and more broadly asylum seeker issues, stems from being the daughter of Vietnamese refugee parents.
Linny is also the Founder & Chair of The Water Well Project, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to improve the health of migrants and refugees by improving their health literacy. To date, The Water Well Project has delivered more than 240 sessions with the support of volunteers, public donations and grants. These sessions have reached approximately 2,500 individuals with flow-on effects to their family and friends. The Water Well Project was proud to be recognised in the Victorian Refugee and Asylum Seeker Action Plan 2014-2018 and named as finalists in the 2014 Melbourne Awards for Community Contribution.
