In partnership with our friends at Unbound we have transformed our annual Global Ideas Forum into Intersect 2019. This year our mission is to bring together Australia’s leading and emerging innovators for a day of big ideas for a healthier more sustainable world!

With an exceptional line-up of facilitators, workshops and discussions, the event offers a unique opportunity for you to learn and create networks with remarkable change-makers.

Intersect 2019 is all about DOING, rather than being another talk-fest. You will have access to loads of hands-on, practice-based workshops specifically tailored to the needs and skills of people in the room as well as engaging debates, storytelling, and time for reflection.

Global Ideas will bring a specific focus on health and showcase local organisations making a big impact both locally and internationally.

Parallel Sessions:

Choose Your Own Adventure

We have packed the program with great content, speakers, organisations and workshops. The hardest part will be choosing which one to join. There are four parallel sessions in each slot – meaning there’s a dozen fantastic workshops on offer. The third session is a longer one and is where we can have immersive interactive workshops.

We will be releasing the full program over the coming weeks – so do come back for updates. Here’s a start.

Building awesome teams

Whether you’re building the next high growth startup, social venture or world-changing movement, you can’t do it alone. This workshop will be a practical and effective dive into what it takes to shape, create and empower teams that make things happen and ensure they feel supported as they do it.

This session is your chance to set the agenda and answer some burning questions. An Unconference is a semi-structured sessions where you can choose the topic to lead a discussion, workshop and share your knowledge.

More information below.

global Ideas Design Sprint

This Sprint will explore how to better understand who it is we are designing for and how we can better meet their needs. It will be a step-by-step process so you can practice using the tools and methods of design-thinking as you apply them – an excellent tool for an budding innovator and entrepreneur. This year the topic will be Tackling Mental Health Stigma.

Ideas to Action

We all have great ideas – they come in the shower, or as we’re drifting off to sleep. This practical workshop shows how to turn those ideas into reality, exploring motivation and overcoming challenges.

2019 Program

Please note: program subject to change – check back for updates

*vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options provided at lunch.

What’s an Unconference? It’s an exciting exchange of ideas where YOU set the agenda. Participants brainstorm a range of topics and choose which discussion or workshop to join. Whatever your area of interest you can find like-minded people and start the conversation.

How do founders avoid burnout? What does it take to start a business in a new country? How can we get more women into leadership roles? How can we support refugees to thrive in Australia? What new technology is around the corner that will change everything?

We know there’s as much talent in the audience as on stage and this is our chance to open up the event for more great ideas!

Lightning Talks

We are hoping the Melbourne weather is delightful for this event, but that won’t stop us starting the day with a shower of ideas with our exciting Lightning Talks. Hear from innovators on their one big idea – as they plant some seeds for discussion and to explore for the rest of the day.

Food and Networking

We know that good food and the meal breaks can make or break an event – and we’re pleased to make our meals a highlight of the program.

Our catering is provided by local social enterprises and is a global celebration of food and creativity. Our meal breaks: morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided as part of the ticket and give plenty of opportunity to connect with other attendees in a relaxed, fun and engaging setting. We know it’ll be a highlight.

Keynote Debate:

“This is the Greatest Time to be Alive”

Are we really living in the greatest time in history?
Has technology made life easier or has social media killed the concept of privacy as well as our attention spans?
Is innovation solving the problems that matter, or just getting food to our door a little earlier?

Join six leading voices from the entrepreneurship, startup and innovation eco-system as they go head-to-head in this spirited and lively debate of ideas.

Ticket prices are as follows:

Student / Unwaged: $55

Individual / Sole Trader: $110

NGO / Social Enterprise: $220

Small Business / University: $330

Government or International Business: $825

To maximise inclusion we have adopted as pay-as-you-can price structure. While the lowest ticket price is $25, if this is not possible for you, please get in touch at and we can arrange something for you.
