Project Lead, Vision@Home, G20 Young Global Changer
Will is the winner of the 2016 Google Impact Challenge, recently completed his internship and surgical residency at Monash Health, and is a currently completing his Ph.D. in Opthamology. Recently he was selected as one of the 100 ‘Young Global Changers’ by the German G20 Presidency and attended think tanks on sustainability and public health in Berlin.
His Ph.D. project, which he pitched to Google, uses a webcam to diagnose vision capability by measuring the distance between the patient and screen. The program allows for testing to take place without a physician actually being present. Will is currently working with Google (Sydney and Mountain View, CA) to develop scalable vision screening and disease monitoring platforms. He said, in an interview with SBS last year, that the goal is to take the program to Australia’s regional neighbours within 3 years.
If that weren’t enough, he is also the Senior Editor of the Journal of Mobile Technology in Medicine, which focuses on mobile technology in healthcare.
At #GIF17, he’ll be taking part in a roundtable discussion on facing challenges, finding success, and his approach to solving problems.
