Founder, The Social Food Project
Ben McMenamin believes that food has the power to bring people together and catalyse social change. With over 10 years of experience as a chef and a degree from RMIT, he’s seen the results of this first-hand.
Ben uses his passion as a platform to act as a sustainability communicator, and has worked with a number of social initiatives, including the Food Know How project, OzHarvest, and Scarf Community Dinners. His engagement with sustainability extends to gardening. While at RMIT he created a project called Greening RMIT, dedicated to creating more urban gardens and increasing food literacy.
In 2015, Ben Co-founded the Fair Food Challenge, an organisation that aims to empower university communities to build fair, healthy, and accessible food systems.
At #GIF17, Ben will be running a workshop that seeks to answer the question, ‘how might we develop relationships between producers and eaters and establish a more connected food system?’.
