Director, TheHill and MedicineAfrica, GP academic at University of Oxford
Alexander Finlayson is on the forefront of global digital health and health technology. He is currently a primary care academic at the University of Oxford and has conducted research at Newcastle University and Harvard.
In 2008 he founded a programme (MedicineAfrica) which seeks to use technology to strengthen and improve current health systems in Somalia. The programme supports health partnerships by providing an online platform for the delivery of global health teaching, training, and health provision and has raised over seven million pounds in funding. He was awarded Scotland’s Junior Doctor of the Year title in 2012 for his work with MedicineAfrica. In 2016 he founded TheHill, a digital health lab and incubator to provide a safe place to test the boundaries for those seeking change in the sector.
At #GIF17, Alexander will be running an innovation workshop, delivering a keynote on harnessing technology for health in post-conflict states, and will be joining the health technology panel.
